My Murder Confession…

I like love to sing loudly in the car.

Know that feeling?

A song comes on the radio, you turn it up and just sing along, without a care in the world?

SO. MUCH. FUN!

Well, my confession… I often mess up the words. It’s not that I forget the words, I botch them up. I think the artist is singing one thing and they are really saying something totally different. I think it might be an undiagnosed illness!

The reasons this sickness is awful…

I often sing it wrong for a long time {in one case, it was years}.

I completely kill these songs!

The worst part… my version often does not make any sense!

Examples:

1. Edge of Seventeen (Just Like The White Winged Dove) by Stevie Nicks: She says “Just like the white winged dove … sings a song… ” I thought she was saying “Just like the darkwing duck”

I know, I know! This is what I was picturing every time I heard that song! I could not figure out why she was singing about a cartoon duck! Ridiculous! My brother cried {laughing} when I told him.

2. Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus: I thought she was signing about rainbows! “You came in like a rainbow.”

Ugh! My kids thought that was absolutely hysterical! I guess I am just a much happier person than Miley.

Rainbows not wrecking balls! In my book that is an improvement.

And my most recent song massacre…

3. Thrive by Casting Crowns: “It’s time for us to more than just survive… We were made to thrive.”

I personally think it works either way, but when I first heard it, I thought he was saying, “We were made to fly” and it made me think of this picture. I thought I was so perfect! The announcer shattered my dreams when he broadcast the title of the song.

Oh well…

Life goes on! I’m sure this won’t be my last song assassination.

If you haven’t heard the latest Casting Crowns song, here it is.

And here are the lyrics… I’m going to study.

Hugs and Abundant Blessings,
