Bible Verses about Anxiety

If you think anxiety issues are on the rise, you aren’t alone. I did some research on what is really happening. I believe God’s Word is healing, so I compiled a list of Bible verses about anxiety.

Statistics show that Americans are more anxious now than in previous years.

The number of Americans dealing with anxiety is climbing every year. Some blame our habits, activity levels and our lack of connection with people in real life, not on a device.

“We move less, sleep less and have weaker bonds [relationships],

all of which can lead to anxiety.” –Jelena Kecmanovic

People aren’t getting help.

While the numbers of people with anxiety are increasing, they aren’t seeking help. People are trying to power through or stuff the feelings down. When feeling anxious, people often turn to a device to numb their feelings rather than face them.

The tactics they use to get better are making them worse.

Turning to social media or binge watching television actually increases the feelings of anxiety.

People are passing their anxiety to their kids.

Because the anxiety issues are being stuffed down and then multiplied, they aren’t being addressed. The anxiety is then being passed on to their children.

In my research, I found the biggest source of anxiety people reported was the fear of keeping themselves or their family safe. It is ironic to me that they are worried about keeping their family safe, while actually passing the fears on to their children and unintentionally causing harm in the process.

Better alternatives for anxiety relief.

There are better ways to deal with anxiety:

  • Spend time away from from electronic devices
  • Get up and move more — being outside in nature is best!
  • Get enough sleep
  • Make spending time with friends and family (in person) a priority.

I would add, spend time with God in His word. I believe scripture is healing. Allowing God to transform our thoughts to align with His and focusing on Truth over lies will change your life!

I put together a list of Bible Verses about Anxiety:
